Reference area:
Contains encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, indexes, almanacs
and computers
for public internet access.
Checkout Desk:
You can check out materials by presenting a Pierce County Library
System card. Register for a card by completing a form and presenting
I.D. You can also return overdue materials and pay fines, request
materials and pick up requested or reserved materials.
Materials being returned by the due date may be placed in the book
drop to the left of the checkout desk or in the book drop located
on the west side of the building (exterior) .
Online Library
Catalogues are located in the reference area. The central aisle
and the children's area.
The Audiovisual
collection contains videos for all ages, compact disks, cassette
tapes, and talking books. Read alongs are located in the children's
area, as well as junior talk-a-longs.
Current periodicals
include daily and weekly newspapers and magazines. Magazines in
Korean and Spanish can be found in the International section. Immediate
back issues are kept under the slant shelves. Older issues can be
requested at the reference desk.
There are three
study rooms for quiet study. A coin-operated copy machine and a
pay phone are provided for public use. Typewriters are available
for in the library use free of charge.
The conference
room is available to community groups only during open hours and
may be reserved in advance. Equipment available includes a 16 mm
projector, a slide projector, an overhead projector, an opaque projector,
a video monitor and VCR with closed caption decoder.
